Think about your day and ask yourself "Did I leave a positive mark on something today?". Whether it was engaging with a client on a personal level or finishing up a tough project, you were a part of success. This is a great way to reflect on your day. When you leave your footprint on something, people will notice. So do your best to make the lasting impression a positive one.
Here at Flyer Consulting that is our goal: To help leave a positive mark on the community and people around us. We dedicate ourselves to our clients, our team, and our community to try to produce excellent work and overall positive development. Our culture at Flyer Consulting wasn't artificially produced, but rather crafted by the members before us who have helped grow this organization. The students that have spent countless hours to produce well, written deliverables for our clients. The team members that have sifted through financials, websites and data to produce a well thought-out solution. Without these students, our organization would not be where it is at today. I am honored to be a part of a group where excellence has been etched into our culture. So at this time I would like to give a special thanks to the Senior Consultants who have dedicated so much to this organization. You all have taught me so much in both the business world and in life. I hope one day, I will be able to leave such a positive impact on my successors. - Jamie Studer '18 Executive Consultant

Doing what we do can sometimes be hard to explain.

I'm a pretty big fan of basketball - and being a student at the University of Dayton only makes be a bigger fan. Lately the Flyers have seen a lot success, seeing the men's team to the Elite Eight in 2014 and looking strong for this March and the women's team to the Elite Eight in 2015. In the spirit of basketball and successful teams, I'd like to spend this blog post how Flyer Consulting (FC) is organized from the perspective of a basketball fan. |
The Players
FC consists of 20 all-star consultants (think the 1992 USA Men's Olympic Basketball Dream Team) who have diverse skills, perspectives and experiences. Just as there are point guards, shooting forwards and centers in basketball, FC is full of marketing, finance, accounting and other majors. And with any team, there are both experienced and newer members. In Flyer Consulting experienced members are Executive Consultants, newer members are Associate Consultants and the student leaders are known as the Executive Board. All three of these groups consist of the students who work on projects for our nonprofit clients (AKA our Larry O'Brien NBA Championship Trophy).
The Game
With the players of our superstar team in mind, what is FC's goal? Winning an NBA Championship? Getting MVP awards? Building a dynasty to rival that of the 1950s-1960s Boston Celtics? Our team at FC likes to dream bigger. Every semester our team assists nonprofits across the country with any business-related issues that they may be having. Fundraising? Marketing? Finance? IT? Our dream team can assist in those areas and beyond. What is our championship trophy or MVP award? Knowing that nonprofit organizations are able to operate better and focus on advancing their mission. In other words, even though our team is made up of Magic Johnson's, Michael Jordan's and Stephen Curry's, when we win and meet our goals, successful nonprofit organizations are the real MVP.
